Abstract
Oxidative stress at sites of chronic inflammation can cause permanent genet ic changes. The development of mutations in the p53 tumor suppressor gene a nd other key regulatory genes could help convert inflammation into chronic disease in rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory disorders.
