Rs. Sheoran et al., Thermal efficiency of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) genotypes under different sowing environments and phosphorus levels, I J AGR SCI, 69(12), 1999, pp. 830-832
A field experiment was conducted at Hisar during 1995-97 to study the therm
al efficiency of fenugreek (Triganella foenum-graecum L.) genotypes under d
ifferent sowing environment and phosphorus levels. Two genotypes 'HM 65' an
d 'T 8' were sown on 16 November, I December and 16 December with 4 levels
of phosphorus (0, 13.3, 26.7 and 40.0 kg P/ha). Thermal efficiency for all
treatments was computed. Fenugreek genotypes sown on 1 December showed maxi
mum thermal efficiency. Phosphorus application had improved thermal efficie
ncy of the crop. Genotype 'HM 65' was highly efficient in utilization of th
ermal units and also gave maximum yield. Thermal efficiency was positively
and significantly correlated with seed yield. Thermal efficiency shared up
to 89-93% variability in seed yield of fenugreek genotypes.
