A wavelet, being a bank of matched filters at a constant fidelity, is appro
priate for low bandwidth video communication-compression and is also propos
ed here to test the video contrast sensitivity surface. This generalization
permits us to evaluate the trade-off between the spatial redundancy verses
temporal redundancy reductions. This paper addresses the relationship betw
een very low bandwidth video compression and human perception for target di
