We present angular-differential above-threshold two-photon detachment
rates of H- below the second ionization threshold. They have been calc
ulated using an L-2 close-coupling method with a B-spline basis. We ha
ve found that in the non-resonant region the angular distribution of p
hotoelectrons is close to that obtained from a pure D partial wave. Th
is is also the case in the vicinity of the lowest D-1(e)(1, 0) doubly
excited state. In contrast, the angular distribution in the vicinity o
f the S-1(e)(1, 0) doubly excited states is the result of a complicate
d interference pattern between S and D waves. In the latter case, know
ledge of the corresponding phase shifts is essential to interpret the
actual results.
