Using the effective held theory with a probability distribution technique t
hat accounts for the single-site spin correlations, the critical behaviour
of a site-diluted spin 1/2 Ising model of an alternating magnetic superlatt
ice is examined. The critical temperature of the system is studied as a fun
ction of the strength of the intralayer and interlayer exchange interaction
s, the concentration of magnetic atoms and the film thickness. The effects
of modified surface layers on the critical temperature are also considered.
