Abstract
One of major problems in testing or evaluating precisely the thermal behavi or of a machine tool is the difficulty of identification of heat transfer c oefficient on the surface by conventional method. This paper presents a new method based on the inverse analysis to identify the distribution of heat transfer coefficient. The present method requires only the temperature chan ge measured at several selected points on the machine tool surface. The tem perature change is obtained easily during a certain period of warming-up op eration of the machine tool. The experimental result obtained with a head s tock model verifies the effectiveness of the present method.
