A political scientist re-examines a news segment that is invoked to show th at pictures speak louder than words and reaches a new conclusion: "The less ons to be learned from the story of Lesley Stahl's 1984 campaign piece are not the ones that have so often been promoted. Reporters are not at the mer cy of politicians who know how to present appealing images.".
