The first example of the use of a titanium catalyst to effect the addition
of silyloxycyclopropanes to aldehydes, the homoaidol reaction, is reported.
The method features an alkoxytitanium(IV) triflate catalyst, which is conv
eniently prepared by treatment of Binol-Ti((OPr)-Pr-i)(2) with TMSOTf.
