Abstract
In an unprecedented reaction, the reduction of 2,4,6-tri-tert-butyl-1,3,5-t riphosphabenzene over a potassium mirror in toluene resulted in the abstrac tion of P3- and generation of the 2,4,5-tri-tert-butyl-1,3-diphosphacyclope ntadtenide anion, P2C3Bu3t- (3) The potassium salt of this anion was charac terized by an X-ray crystallographic study.
