Abstract
Pancytopenia, resulting from bone marrow injury, may be caused by the use of albendazole for the treatment of giardiosis in dogs and cats. P ancytopenia may resolve after drug withdrawal and supportive treatment with fluids and antibiotics. Drug-induced bone marrow toxicosis can b e dose related or idiosyncratic. Caution should be exercised when usin g albendazole to treat parasitic infections in small animals.
