Abstract
Laboratory simulations of salt weathering (using sodium sulphate) and freez e-thaw attack (using an Icelandic Cycle) on 19 different limestones indicat e that the rocks do not respond in an identical way to the two processes. R esistance to salt is a poor predictor of resistance to frost. Moreover, You ng's modulus of elasticity, which was determined by the Grindosonic method, appears not in itself to be a reliable indicator of resistance to frost at tack.
