Abstract
Iron layers are nitrided in mixtures of ammonia and hydrogen at low tempera tures, using a thin nickel layer as catalyst. The phase diagram is extended from 350 to 240 degrees C. A possible triple point in the Lehrer diagram l ies well below 275 degrees C.
