U. Van Burck et al., Pulse propagation of synchrotron radiation through a nuclear two-resonancesystem - art. no. 013803, PHYS REV A, 6001(1), 2000, pp. 3803
Pulse propagation through a two-resonance medium was investigated in nuclea
r forward scattering (NFS) of synchrotron radiation (SR). The SR pulse was
coherently transmitted through a target system exhibiting two equivalent re
sonances, the energy separation of which was varied via the Doppler effect,
This allowed a continuous change from a single-resonance medium to a two-r
esonance system with adjustable splitting. For increasing splitting, the ob
served time evolutions of NFS changed from a dynamical brat (DB) via hybrid
forms of beating into a DB-modulated quantum beat. The experimental result
s were consistently fitted using a dynamical theory for NFS of SR.
