Abstract
The function of the prostate is to provide the bulk of the seminal fluid. G rowth and adult function of the prostate are controlled by androgens. Speci fic responses to androgenic signals are determined by the state of differen tiation of the gland. The responses are mediated by paracrine interactions between the stromal and epithelial tissues. Growth factors are believed to play a role in this interactive signaling.
