Abstract
A new, highly toxic species of Omithogalum, O. toxicarium from central Sout h Africa and southern Namibia is described. Symptoms in small livestock cor respond with 'krimpsiekte' and not with typical Ornithogalum (chincherinche e) poisoning. The plant is characterised by a dwarf stature, filiform leave s, capitate inflorescence, large capsule and large winged seeds.
