Abstract
Methyl esters of hydroxypipecolic acids can be produced as artefacts w hen cation-exchange resin is used in the sample preparation of plant e xtracts for chromatographic analysis. Esterification occurs when extra cts containing methanol are applied directly to the resin and subseque ntly washed through with methanolic solutions.
