The flow and mechanics of granular materials have been widely studied in re
cent years, and the results are readily applied to many fields. This paper
investigated experimentally the flow patterns of sand movement and the corr
esponding foam pattern drift in a vibrating flask. Experimental results sho
wed that foam pattern drift is affected by the vibration conditions, the ge
ometry of the foam pattern. the locations at which the foam pattern is embe
dded and the modulus of elasticity of the flask.
