Abstract
A man with allergy against soybean is described. He only had symptoms of an aphylaxis when vigorously running after the meal. This entity is clearly de fined: Anaphylaxis will appear only if physical exercise as a cofactor foll ws (seldom preceeds) the food ingestion. In the literature 163 cases are de scribed. We give a review of the pathophysiology, epidemiology, the possibl e co-factors, diagnostic procedures, prophylaxis and therapy. It is recomme nded to eat especially homemade meals thus excluding the risk of hidden foo d ingredients in dressings and commercially prepared foods. Preventive avoi dance of specific foods for 5 hours enables subjects to perform strenuous e xercise without development of any symptoms.
