Abstract
The mobility of some metals in woody plants was investigated by using a mod el system simulating natural conditions. The system comprises chromatograph y of metals on paper impregnated with compounds otherwise incorporated into lignified cell walls, and on slices of different woods. The metals were su bjected to ascending chromatography using water as the developing solvent. The results indicated that the interference of the compounds tested is refl ected by chromatographic acceleration or retardation of metals. (C) 2000 El sevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
