A 27-year-old man who had a history of Hodgkins lymphoma in apparent r
emission presented as an outpatient for restaging. A scintigram was ob
tained 7 days after injection of 11 mCi Ga-67 citrate. The patient had
reinitiated a weight lifting regimen approximately 2 weeks before the
imaging, noting arm tenderness after his first few workouts, The symp
toms subsided and physical examination showed no tenderness to palpati
on. The patient denied any urinary discoloration after reinitiation of
exercise. The scintigram showed localization of Ga-67 in both arms pr
edominantly in the biceps, brachialis, and brachioradialis muscles. Th
is finding corresponds to the site of previous tenderness. This study
is an example of unusual Ga-67 uptake in muscle after exercise.
