Tunneling and Point Contact measurements were performed on a single cr
ystal of the new heavy fermion superconductor UPd2Al3 in the normal st
ate above and below the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature. For a
certain range of resistances, tunneling spectra show the opening of a
gap of about 7 - 15 meV in the density of states along the ab-directio
n, but not along the c- axis. However, this gap is also found in point
contacts made along the c-axis, showing that the latter method is les
s sensitive to anisotropy.
