Under the Nature Conservancy Act a total of 746 facilities are protected in
Croatia, of which 322 cover 464,300 ha in all, or 7.6% of Croatia's area.
According to the Act, specially protected parts of the nature are divided i
nto 9 protected categories. To a lar,ne extent, floodplain forest ecosystem
s are also under protection of the Act. Of particular importance are parks
of nature Kopacki rit (17,800 ha) and Lonjsko polje (50,700 ha). There are
also special reserves of forest vegetation: Stupnicki lug, Cmi jarci, Prasn
ik, Loze, Radisevo, Novakusa, Cesma, Varoski lug, Vukovarske dunavske ade,
Motovun forest, and others.
