Ecological significance and vulnerability of the floodplain forest ecosystems in Slovakia

This contribution is focused to evaluation of ecological significance and v ulnerability of the Slovak floodplain forests near larger rivers - the Danu be, Morava, Vah and Hron river. Three groups of forests from the point of v iew ecological significance and vulnerability have been indicated. The firs t group is created by soft floodplain forests and cornel-oak ones, the seco nd group create transitional and hard floodplain forests and hornbeam-oak o nes and the third group consists of mainly secondary forests along above-me ntioned river;. Obtained results are discussed in more detail.
