Abstract
We describe a patient with life-threatening puerperal sepsis developing 6 h ours after cesarean section. Hysterectomy was performed to control intraabd ominal bleeding from the septic uterus. The patient developed a systemic in flammatory response syndrome with multiple organ dysfunction including temp orary kidney failure. Splenectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy were required to control the infectious process.
