The mechanical properties of porous materials are strongly influenced by th
e stress concentration around pores. In view of this, stress fields around
a spheroidal pore is studied under dynamic loading conditions. A hybrid met
hod that combines the finite element method with an analytical approach has
been used. It is shown that the dynamic stress concentration is influenced
by three parameters: frequency of excitation, geometry of the pore and Poi
sson's ratio of the medium. It is also shown that the dynamic stress concen
tration can reach much higher values than that predicted by static analysis
