Abstract
The C-disaccharide analogue of the sequence beta-D-Galf-(1-->3)-beta-D-Glcp , an internal disaccharide of the capsular polysaccharide of Klebsiella K14 was synthesized by radical macrocyclization of temporarily tethered monosa ccharides. The alpha-difluoro-C-analogue was obtained in three steps from D -galactono-1,4-lactone.
