The equilibrium solubilities of three solid polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon
s (acenaphthene, fluoranthene, and triphenylene) were determined at tempera
tures ranging from 308 K to 348 K and pressures from 121.6 to 354.6 bar in
supercritical CO2. The data were obtained by using a simple static sampling
apparatus which was tested by measuring the solubility of naphthalene in c
ompressed CO2. The measured solubilities were correlated using a semiempiri
cal model. The calculated results show satisfactory agreement with the expe
rimental data.
