The electrochemical hydrogen absorption - desorption in p-Si and Ni sponge
was studied by cyclic voltametry The voltamogram for Si in the alkaline med
ia in the potential range E = -1.8 to -0.3 V (vs. SCE) showed an increase i
n the hydrogen evolution current at a potential of about -1.2 V, which indi
cates the hydrogen evolution/absorption at this potential. The voltamogram
So, Ni. in the alkaline media in the potential range E = -1.3 to -0.2 V (vs
. SCE) showed a cathodic peak at -1.13 which may be attributed to an absorp
tion prewave due to water electro reduction to H-ads.
