Abstract
A fivefold differential cross section for electron-impact double ionization of helium is calculated for high incident energy (1-5 keV). The calculatio n is based on the first and second Born approximation. The results obtained are in reasonably good agreement with the recent (e, 3e) experimental data . Some typical situations are investigated in order to identify the mechani sms of double ionization.
