Taking the ground state 1s(2) S-1 of a highly stripped two-electron impurit
y ion Ne8+ (Z = 10) in a magnetized plasma as a typical example, it is show
n in this calculation that the magnetic-field-induced shift of the ground s
tate energy of the ion depends on the plasma screening strength as well. Al
so, the diamagnetism of the ion increases as the diamagnetic susceptibility
becomes more negative with increased screening strength, which may be attr
ibuted to the expansion of the ion's bound electronic orbit under enhanced
plasma screening.
