Abstract
Theoretical calculation for the double excitation of the hydrogen molecule to the (2p sigma(u)(2))(1)Sigma(g)(+) and (2p sigma(u)2p pi(u))(1)Pi(g) sta tes induced by fast charged particles are reported for the first time. Elec tron correlation and time-ordering are considered in order to reproduce the dependence of the cross sections on the sign of the projectile charge. We have also analysed the dependence of the cross sections on the angle betwee n the molecular axes and the beam direction. Our theoretical results are co mpared with the experimental data.
