A new technique for the measurement of input firing voltage in electrohydra
ulic discharges (EHD) is described in this note. EHD produces a spark chann
el and emits flash in the range of vacuum ultraviolet to visible light. We
focused our attention on the relationship between the input firing voltage
and flash feature of EHD. In order to detect flash features, a photodiode i
s used instead of a photomultiplier in this experiment. The amplitude and t
he pulse width of flash features for various input firing voltages have bee
n investigated. It is found that the amplitude and pulse width increase lin
early with input firing voltage between 5 and 80 kV.
