Abstract
Power amplifiers (PA) used in. the next-generation wireless communication s ystems based on spread spectrum techniques must exhibit exceptional lineari ty. This linearity must be achieved without sacrificing efficiency to a gre at extent. Digital predistortion techniques have been shown to improve the linearity of PAs for narrowband applications. In this article, digital pred istortion is applied to both GaAs and laterally diffused metal oxide semico nductor (LDMOS) amplifiers with narrowband and wideband input signals. The efficacy of the digital predistortion under various input signal peak-to-av erage power ratios is also considered.
