Abstract
A new family of layered cuprates with 1222 structure has been synthesi zed in the (Bi,Cu)Sr2(Ln,Ce)2Cu2Oz (Ln=Pr,Nd,Sm,Eu,Gd,Dy,Ho,Er,Tm and Y) systems. The almost-single phase for each case could be attained at the nominal composition of (Bi0.25Cu0.75)Sr2LnCeCu2Oz. The samples we re semiconductors, even after oxygen-annealing a 500-degrees-C for 24 h under a high pressure of 200 atm. The temperature dependence of the resistivity suggested that the transport process was followed by a thr ee-dimensional variable range hopping conduction.
