Abstract
Hirsutism is a common condition in the adolescent female and reflects, in p art, significant hormonal activity at the level of the pilosebaceous unit. Whereas benign conditions usually are the underlying causes of hirsutism, s erious and life-threatening conditions can present initially as hirsutism o r virilization. A number of effective therapies are available to treat this condition.
