Abstract
Using the acronym SAFE (Severity, Affect, Family, and Environment), a clini cal interview strategy is presented to provide a framework in the evaluatio n of pelvic pain patients. This approach simultaneously evaluates medical a nd psychological concerns and provides the gynecologist with a framework th at guides the physical exam, further diagnostic procedures, and management so that all symptoms-medical and psychological-are considered.
