R. Castaneda et al., On the use of Fourier analysis for the interferometric identification of very near objects, OPT COMMUN, 174(5-6), 2000, pp. 335-345
An interferometric method for identifying two spatially coherent and very n
ear amplitude-only objects is shown. The objects should be of similar shape
but can be different in size or transmission. By analysing the Fourier spe
ctrum of the intensity distribution of the Fraunhofer interferogram they pr
oduce, it is possible to count the structures and, in certain cases, to rec
onstruct them. Such a procedure is more useful than the visual inspection o
r direct fringe analysis of the interferograms. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B
