Abstract
We investigate an extended chiral soliton model which includes pi, rho, ome ga and sigma mesons as explicit degrees of freedom. The Lagrangian incorpor ates chiral symmetry and broken scale invariance. A scalar-isoscalar sigma- meson is associated with a quarkonium dilaton field with a mass m(sigma) ap proximate to 550...720 MeV. We show that the inclusion of the scalar field slightly changes the static and electromagnetic properties of the nucleon. In contrast, it plays a significant role in nucleon-nucleon dynamics and gi ves an opportunity to describe well the two-nucleon interaction. (C) 2000 P ublished by Elsevier Science B.V.
