Abstract
A strong influence of the quantization of the electronic spectrum of nonmag netic spacers in multilayers is discovered on the dependence of the exchang e interaction on the thickness of the spacer. It is shown that the antiferr omagnetic dip is observed experimentally in Fe/Cr multilayers, as small thi cknesses can be interpreted in terms of the simple RKKY approximation.
