Es. Gorkunov et al., Use of the Barkhausen effect in ferromagnetic material spectroscopy (survey 3): Effects of crystal grain size, RUSS J NOND, 35(8), 1999, pp. 569-587
Mechanisms are considered for the formation of Barkhausen steps in grains w
ith various sizes and orientations. There is a relationship between the siz
es of the grains or the textural elements in a polycrystalline ferromagneti
c on the one hand and the sizes of the magnetic domains on the other, as we
ll as a correlation with the parameters of the Barkhausen steps, which dete
rmine the level of the hysteresis in the electromagnetic parameters. The ma
gnetization reversal and the production of Barkhausen steps are discussed o
n the basis of irreversible shifts in parts of domain boundaries, in domain
boundaries as a whole, domain clusters, and texture groups.
