The effect of the magnetisation processes on the correlation relations of t
he fields of artificial defects, such as a rectangular slot, and of natural
defects of hot-rolled tubes in magnetic flaw detection is investigated exp
erimentally. It is shown that the correlation of the transducer signal from
a deep defect is degraded considerably when is width decreases. An increas
e in the magnetizing field leads to a reduction in the linear correlation c
oefficient between the transducer signal and the deep defect, and leads to
its increase when measuring dependences on the width of the defect and its
transverse cross sections.
