Abstract
In the Y2O3:3Al(2)O(3):4B(2)O(3) system infrared absorption spectroscopy an d X-ray diffraction have been used to study the solid-state reactions in th e 600-1300 degrees C temperature range, The expected YAl3(BO3)(4) formation (whose optimum temperature is at about 1150 degrees C) was proceeded and a ccompanied by the appearance of YBO3 and Al4B2O9 intermediate phases. At hi gher temperatures the Al18B4O33 phase was also identified with both methods , Based on these results, some chemical reactions were suggested. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
