Abstract
Two-way parabolic equation techniques are based on replacing normal derivat ives with one-way operators on scattering surfaces and iterating for the so lution. This approach is extended to diffraction and scattering problems in volving perfectly reflecting boundaries. Accuracy is demonstrated for the S ommerfeld diffraction problem. Two-way parabolic equation solutions are als o presented for problems involving a diffraction grating, scattering in a w aveguide, and diffraction of surface gravity waves by a seawall.
