In aquaculture the identification of individuals, populations and gynogenet
ic produced lines by genetic markers gets more and more important. Beside t
he biochemical markers also the moleculargenetic methods of identification
are useful, because they are more polymorphic and therefor more informative
than the biochemical methods. In our Institute the biochemical are used si
nce 1970 and the moleculargenetic methods since 1990 as well in warmblooded
animals as in fishes. A review of the actual situation for the use of gene
tic markers is presented.
