In this work we studied the mite faunal composition present in house dust c
ollected in homes of patients with respiratory symptoms in the towns of San
ta Cruz and La Laguna, Tenerife (Spain). The frequencies of species occurre
nce were: Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (99%), Euroglyphus maynei (23%), T
yrophagus putrescentiae (18%), Dermatophagoides farinae (15%), Blomia tropi
calis (13%), Lepidoglyphus destructor (6%), Chortoglyphus arcuatus (5%), Gl
ycyphagus domesticus (<1%), Caloglyphus berlesei (<1%) and Histiostoma fero
niarum (<1%).
