Abstract
gamma-irradiation of powdered 5-Aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) samples produced a change in colour from white to yellow. Calorimetric and spectroscopic mea surements were performed on these samples. The results can be interpreted i n terms of the formation of point defects (F-centres) such that the overall crystal structure was not affected.
