Dj. Cheng et al., Electromagnetic scattering by a conducting cylinder coated with a uniaxialchiral layer of varying thickness: generalized mode-matching method, COMP PHYS C, 125(1-3), 2000, pp. 90-104
Based on the concept of characteristic waves and the method of angular spec
tral expansion, cylindrical vector wave functions are developed to represen
t the electromagnetic waves in a uniaxial chiral medium. To illustrate how
to use the present cylindrical vector wave functions in a practical way, a
generalized mode-matching method is proposed to study the electromagnetic s
cattering of a conducting circular cylinder coated with a uniaxial chiral l
ayer of varying thickness. The excellent convergence property of the bistat
ic echo width is numerically verified, which establishes the reliability an
d applicability of the present cylindrical vector wave functions and genera
lized mode-matching method for a two-dimensional problem with a curved surf
ace coating of a uniaxial chiral medium. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All
