Endoscopic ultrasonography

Endosonography is primarily a diagnostic imaging modality: but new; therape utic applications ale being developed. Miniprobe technology (ultrasound cat heter probes) has led to new clinical applications. The staging of gastroin testinal cancers remains the major accepted indication for endosonography. Other conditions, such as chronic pancreatitis, portal hypertension, and in flammatory bowel diseases, are also being evaluated with endosonographic im aging.
