Abstract
Congenital cataracts are one of the major causes of induced blindness in ch
ildren. Gene mapping is an important step in understanding the molecular de
fects of congenital cataracts. Some congenital cataract genes have been map
ped, and more genes will be located and identified in the future. The locat
ions and candidate locations of congenital cataract genes are discussed in
this review.
