Abstract
The array proposed in this paper improves the characteristics of standard i nfrared arrays for remote sensing, in particular, of those used for incipie nt forest fires detection. The consequences are of interest mainly in stari ng non-imaging, large-range, large field of view and low cost-sensors. Furt hermore, non-uniformity effects in the focal plane as the azimuth angle inc reases can be properly minimised. Another important advantage is the field of view and fill factor enlargement, maintaining the optics and connection low-level complexity. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
